 +**Abstract:**
+A number of classical and recent advances in the information theoretic understanding of wireless networks are elegantly and intuitively explained by considering a simplified channel model where the output is a deterministic function of the inputs. These models capture in some sense the ``fundamental'' interaction between different users signals, while threating the effect of the noise in a simplified and deterministic way.
 +
+This talk offers a tutorial-like presentation of deterministic models and an overview of the most remarkable related advances in network information theory.
