Sanjit K. Mitra , Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will join the USC Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems as a Professor beginning July 1, 2006, and will be a member of the USC Signal and Image Processing Institute (SIPI).

Prof. Mitra received a B.Sc. with Honors in Physics from Utkal University, India in 1953, an M.Sc. (Tech.) in Radio Physics and Electronics from the University of Calcutta, India in 1956, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1960. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1962.
