C.-C. (Jay) Kuo, Ph.D. - Professor
Research Interests:
 
Digital signal and image processing, multimedia data compression, wireless communication technologies, media networking and delivery protocols, multimedia database management, and bioinformatics. 
 
Biographical Information:

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, 1987, MIT, Cambridge, MA. Dr. Kuo is a member of SIAM, ACM, a Fellow of AAAS, IEEE and SPIE. He is Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation and served as Associate Editor for 10 other journals. He has guided 106 students to their Ph.D. degrees. He is a co-author of more than 1000 publications in international conferences and journals as well as 10 books. Dr. Kuo received the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award (NYI) and Presidential Faculty Fellow (PFF) Award in 1992 and 1993, respectively. He was an IEEE Signal Processing Society Distinguished Lecturer in 2006, a recipient of the Okawa Foundation Research Award in 2007, the recipient of the Electronic Imaging Scientist of the Year Award from IS&T and SPIE in 2010, and the holder of the 2010-2011 Fulbright-Nokia Distinguished Chair in Information and Communications Technologies.
