With over 50 full time faculty, the Electrical Engineering Department
at USC allows students to pursue research in virtually all branches of
electrical engineering. Ph.D candidates have the chance to work in the
labs of leading researchers in fields including photonics and lasers,
image processing, optical computing and communications, multimedia
technologies, controls, power systems, MEMS, integrated circuits and
VLSI, and computer engineering. Our graduate curriculum is structured
to prepare students for research ranging from the highly theoretical to
more applied topics. Interdisciplinary research is also strongly
encouraged and supported at the Ph.D. level at USC. The strength of our
program is reflected in the quality of our graduates who have gone on
to positions of leadership in business and academia in the U.S. and
throughout the world.
